41. ASSIGNMENTS AND SPECIAL EVENTS
41.1. Loading
41.1.1 To maximise the opportunity for Employees to be directly involved in the coverage of international affairs and special events, and to assist SBS in competitive tendering, Employees involved in these activities may be paid a loading in addition to their salary in lieu of other conditions which would apply under this Agreement.
41.1.2 For International Assignments, SBS may pay Employees:
(a) a minimum loading of 50% of salary, which will compensate Employees for, and apply in place of, penalties, any composite pay or buy-out, overtime (other than overtime for work in excess of 12 hours per day, which will be paid in accordance with this Agreement) and meal allowances, with all other terms and conditions of this Agreement to apply in the normal way; or
(b) a negotiated loading of at least the percentage of salary in clause 41.1.2(a), which will compensate Employees for, and apply in place of, the provisions of this Agreement dealing with penalties, composite pay, buy-outs, all overtime, shift arrangements, allowances, hours of work, non-cash benefits, and/or anything else agreed by both parties.
41.1.3 For International Assignments, Domestic Assignments and Employees working at their usual workplace on Special Events, a loading may be negotiated with an individual Employee. The loading will include and apply instead of any or all of penalties, composite pay or buy-outs, overtime, shift arrangements, allowances, hours of work, non-cash benefits and/or anything else agreed by both parties.
41.1.4 Where SBS provides business class air travel, Employees will be paid their salary and the loading under this clause, and will not be entitled to claim travelling time as overtime.
41.1.5 Payment of a loading for an International or Domestic Assignment under this clause will commence from the time of departure from home and will cease at the time of return to home. Periods of leave taken in conjunction with the Assignment will not attract the loading.
