Unless otherwise provided for in a modern award, enterprise agreement or employment contract, all full-time employees are entitled to up to 18 days personal/carer’s leave days each year (8 extra days than the statutory minimum entitlement under the NES). Part-time employees will be entitled to a pro-rata amount of personal/carer’s leave according to the employee’s ordinary hours. You can also use up to 8 days of your personal/carer’s leave entitlement when your spouse/partner gives birth (to be taken within 3 months following the birth). Please see the Parental Leave Policy for further information. Your personal/carer’s leave accrues progressively from the first day of your employment, based on your ordinary hours of work. That is, the leave will accumulate gradually during the year and any unused personal/carer’s leave will roll over from year to year. Personal/carer’s leave does not accumulate when you are on unpaid annual leave, unpaid personal/carer’s leave or unpaid parental leave.
